Services — Tool preparation inside your plant
Pre-Setting
We assemble and pre-set tools inside your plant. The tool reaches the machine measured, identified and ready to run.
Tool preparation inside your plant
A badly assembled tool on the machine means downtime or a broken tool. Every assembly change made on the machining centre itself burns spindle time, depends on operator availability and introduces dimensional variation from one assembly to the next.
With Pre-Setting, Kromi installs a preparation cell inside your plant. Assemblies are built and measured off the machine, on a presetter, with actual length and diameter values recorded and transferred to the control.
The machine receives the assembly ready, identified and with known offsets. Setup stops being trial and error and becomes a plug-in operation.
What we deliver
-
A cell designed for your plant
A solution developed around the needs, processes and characteristics of each operation.
-
Equipment and technology specification
Selection of the equipment and technology needed to ensure precision, speed and efficiency in tool preparation.
-
Design and construction management
Design of a functional, organised environment, focused on the best flow of people, tools and information.
-
Processes and operating standards
Definition of flows, procedures and working standards, including 5S and organisation principles.
-
Operator training
Training the team to use the equipment and run the processes in a standardised, efficient way.
-
Sister-tool mapping and stock management
Sizing and organising sister tools, ensuring availability and tighter control of resources.
-
Data and indicator management
Structuring operational data and indicators for greater control and visibility.
-
Follow-up and continuous improvement
Following the operation after go-live, spotting opportunities and driving continuous improvement.
The tool flow in Kromi Pre-Set
More than preparing tools, Kromi Pre-Set organises, controls and optimises the whole cycle. The goal is that every assembly reaches the machine in the right condition, at the right moment and with the information needed to produce.
-
01
Condition assessment
The operator assesses the condition of the tool. If it is still fit for use, it goes back into the process, avoiding needless replacements and cutting cost.
-
02
Stripping, cleaning and preparation
When the tool has to be replaced, the assembly is stripped, cleaned and prepared. The condition of components and accessories is checked to ensure correct assembly.
-
03
Regrinding cycle management
Where applicable, the tool enters the regrinding management flow. Its cycle is tracked to reduce consumption of new tools.
-
04
Component stock management
Managing components ensures availability for assembly and stops a single missing item from interrupting the tool flow.
-
05
Measurement and setting on dedicated equipment
The assembled tool is set and measured on measuring equipment. Its main dimensions are checked to ensure precision and repeatability in machining.
-
06
Data ready for the CNC machine
A physical label is generated with the tool's main dimensions, allowing quick transfer to the CNC control, reducing errors and speeding up machine setup.
-
07
Tool control and traceability
Every tool assembly gains a controlled history, allowing sharper decisions about its life cycle.
-
08
Return and availability for production
The process ends where productivity begins: with the tool ready to go into the machine.
A tool is only replaced when the assessment says its life is over — and every assembly carries its own history, from the first setting to disposal.
Benefits
-
More spindle hours
Setup moves out of the machine.
-
Less scrap on first lot
Correct offsets from the first part.
-
Predictable setup
Same assembly, same result, any operator.
-
Tool life preserved
Controlled assembly reduces premature breakage.
How we contract
One service, or all of them
The four fronts work together. You choose which ones go into the contract as your plant needs them — and what changes is not only the scope: it is having one point of contact, one invoice and the same management method over all of it.
Most common combinations
-
Tool Management + Pre-Setting
For plants with frequent assembly changes that want setup out of the machine.
-
Tool Management + PPE
Tooling in the KTC and PPE in the KS: two distinct machines, the same management and the same record behind them.
-
MRO + Tool Management + PPE
All the plant's indirect supply under a single management, traceable end to end.
-
Complete management
All four fronts integrated: from buying the tool to the assembly ready at the machine.
